So you want to join Dramac?…
Audition for a show!
If you’re interested in acting, auditions happen throughout the year for different shows.
If you’re new to acting, don’t worry. 1.5 Spot is specifically designed for newcomers to the society.
Get involved in a production!
A show is much more than the actors on stage. Throughout the year shows will put out call outs for several different roles such as;
Backstage crew
Front of House crew
Production Assistant
Publicity
Costuming
Makeup Artist
Tech and Lighting Assistants
Sound Assistants
Prop Manager
The list goes on!
Assistant roles are a great way to get involved when you don’t have much experience. You can learn the ropes and go on to take on Tech Director, Stage Manager, Producer or Director, etc, etc.
Make friends at our socials!
Whether you want to get wild, get competitive, or get creative, we’ve got you covered.
If you want some wholesome fun we often have picnics, theatre sports, Christmas parties and other great events!
One of our highlights is attacks nights where we collaborate with other societies, such as MacMS and LawRev, meet at the Ubar and get together to watch a show at the Lighthouse Theatre!
Learn skills with Dramac!
We not only host several workshops throughout the year focusing on different areas of production, but also have several members who are here to teach you about several production roles!
Some examples are:
Technical Directing
How to Stage Manage
A Guide to Video Auditions
Building a Set
The list goes on and we are always looking for suggestions on what you want to focus on.
Pitch your own production
There are eight spots throughout the year, all with differing requirements. The show you envisage, your experience, cast size and show length may influence which show you pitch for.
See the different requirements on our Instagram, Spot Details page or on our FAQ page.
To pitch you need a play and a proposed production team (e.g. Producer, Assistant Director, Technical Director, Stage Manager…). At a pitch meeting you will ‘pitch’ your production to the general members and there will be a vote.
